Phones treat a proxy as a property of a Wi-Fi network. That has three practical consequences people often miss:

• Switch to another Wi-Fi network and the proxy is gone until you set it again there.

Apps that bypass the phone proxy

The Wi-Fi proxy is a suggestion that apps choose to follow. Browsers and most social apps do, but some games, video calls and apps with their own network code connect directly. On Android, apps that need a proxy login and cannot ask for it often show a generic connection error.

If an app must always use a specific IP, test it by checking the IP it reports or the account's login history. For many accounts, a desktop antidetect browser such as GoLogin is usually more reliable than a phone.
